At this point, many of us are probably inundated with news about the coronavirus that reared its mysterious head in Wuhan, China, a couple of months ago and has since spread all over the world. A couple of weeks ago the first confirmed cases appeared in the city where I study and, that same day, the university released a notice that the campus would close to all but faculty and staff by week’s end and that all on-campus students had to be out of housing had until then to move out.

All the colleges around us were closing, so the change didn’t come as a surprise.

As is the case for many students across the country, I will complete the rest of the semester online. Having used online resources through my home school years (2010-2018), the transition has been relatively smooth, though the work does require a bit more time. Moreover, I have taken on a couple of additional assignments (valuable learning opportunities that I’m thankful to have!), so the time previously spent at my on-campus job is now filled with working on those.

All this to say that I have been absent from APOP because I am adapting to the new pattern for this semester and learning how best to balance everything. Now two weeks into it, I hope to have a new post up within the next few days.

Thank you for hanging in there with me! How, if at all, has COVID-19 affected your school or work life?
